“Your life becomes about the treatment,and you’re completely absorbed in it," Eisenberg said. "The idea here is a gentle reminder of who you really are."

The songs aren’t just for patients being treated for cancer, but also for those in hospice, who cannot be treated. In fact, Eisenberg serves as a Medical Director for LightBridge Hospice writing songs for the patients.

"There was a peace knowing that their song would always be there," Eisenberg said.

“He brings a clinical skill and emotional skill that is just amazing,” said Jill Mendlen, Founder and CEO of LightBridge Hospice. "He's a true gift."

Remembrance Walk Honors Memory of El Cajon Community Leader

Twenty family members and friends participated in the LightBridge Foundation Second Annual Remembrance Walk in memory of their recently departed patriarch, Juan Salas, most recently of El Cajon. He was active member in the Chamorro (Guamanian) community in San Diego and served as President of the Sons and Daughters of Guam Club ifor two terms.

The LightBridge Hospice Community Foundation makes it possible for hospice services to be shared with patients and families who do not otherwise have the financial resources to afford hospice care. The October walk raised $20,000 for the organization.

            Dying El Cajon man leaving behind a legacy garden

            Charles Swanson is dying of chronic kidney failure, but it’s not stopping the 59-year-old from planting the

            seeds to leave a garden behind before he goes.

            Swanson is spending the last part of his life at Cottonwood Canyon Healthcare Center in El Cajon with others

            who are terminally ill. With the help of his LightBridge Hospice caregiver Lisa Kogan and others, Swanson

            has been able to brighten up the lives of all the residents and its staff, planting a legacy garden at the skilled

            nursing home.
