GREENROPE

GreenRope is a startup service by Lars Helgeson, co-founder of CoolerEmail, and is designed to empower small businesses and strategic consultants with the ability to manage their contact database, marketing communications, calendaring and project management initiatives from one user-friendly platform for much lower cost than what they are currently paying for each service al a carte. Its secure system enables companies to automatically back up their customer lists and leverage them across multiple – and until now disparate – channels such as accounts receivable reports, customer surveys, meeting requests and project timesheets, all without having to rekey contact information each time. Thanks to GreenRope, a contract can now be written, submitted, assigned, tracked and billed from only one place. The platform’s centralized management console also provides small businesses and consulting firms with the ability to track the effectiveness of ongoing initiatives at the click of a mouse.

Why your management application might cause more harm than good

By Lars Helgeson, GreenRope

Within any company or industry association, there’s typically a certain degree of role sharing. For example, there might be a variety of folks on the marketing commitee working collaboratively on an upcoming event which requires the use of a software application to manage everything from email marketing to registration to surveys.

While it’s necessary to have a system in place to handle these various tasks, allowing all team members accessibility can lead to serious problems – and even worse – major security issues. Companies should beware of the many consequences that can occur as a result of not selecting a secure business management application.

Most practitioners and small agencies suffer from the all-too-common "feast or famine" revenue cycle that occurs in both good times and bad. It's understandable to a point; a full client plate means new business initiatives take a back seat until the current projects are completed. By then, PR consultants are scrambling to find work in order to meet expenses without dipping into the precious — and quite possibly scarce — cash reserves.
